‘Bee Pollen makes your t*ts grow’

Um Actually… not quite.

Let’s start with what bee pollen actually is. Because it’s not actually pollen from bees.

Its a combination of pollen from flowers, nectar from flowers and bee saliva.

Whatever it is - does it work?

No. There are no studies at all to prove this. There are no studies to even test this.

If this isn’t evidence enough let’s talk about the basics of boob growth.

For starters, once you are an adult, any part of your body growing requires energy from calories. Your chest is no different, a calorie surplus is essential to grow the fat deposits in this area and increase your cup size, so it’s immediately clear to see you will not be growing your chest if you’re loosing weight.

But what about a calorie surplus and bee pollen? Might that combination focus growth only in the chest area?

Also no.

Breast development is unsurprisingly governed by female sex hormones. Specifically oestrogen (oestradiol). Therefore, for bee pollen to be effective in causing growth it would have to increase the level of this hormone.

Which it does not. In fact a few studies detail the anti-oestrogenic effects of bee pollen.

So are TikTok girlies faking their before and afters?

Who’s to say- in some cases maybe.

My guess however? Their intake of bee pollen, which is high in fat, protein and carbs, is boosting their intake in calories - causing a slight calorie surplus, and so a little mass gain - which is always a good thing for the girls :)

Authors note: I get it. I’ve been there too. When girls on TT claim they’ve found the miracle ingredient, saving you thousands on surgery, you want to believe that it really works. One quick search and I’ve found plenty of before and after videos - and they’re really rather convincing. Whilst there’s no harm in giving it a try (unless you’re allergic obvi), before we both go out and spend a pretty penny at Holland and Barrett, at least you now know it probably won’t work.
